Only at Western
Approximately 425 students will be recognized for completing their degrees and certificates at Western Wyoming Community College during Commencement Ceremonies on May 18 at 7:00 p.m. in the Rushmore Gym.
Commencement will begin at 7 p.m. in Rushmore Gymnasium with Edward Elgar and V.S. Carper’s Fanfare and Processional “Pomp and Circumstance” Op. 39, No. 1 played by the WWCC Brass Ensemble, followed by the welcome by Master of Ceremonies and Vice President for Student Learning, Lou Flaim.
Outstanding Graduates, Danielle “Dani” Hardy of Green River and Casey Terrell of Pinedale will give short addresses, followed by a musical interlude, “A Song Sung Once” sung by a vocal ensemble comprised of 11 ladies all of whom are graduating.
Troy Archuleta, academic coordinator for the University of Wyoming Outreach School, will recognize the UW Sweetwater County Outreach graduates. Dr. Karla Leach, President of WWCC, will present the summer 2011, fall 2011 and spring 2012 graduates. Shannon Honaker, president of the WWCC Board of Trustees, will give the response.
Assisted by the Board of Trustees and other division chairs, Flaim will confer the degrees, certificates and honors. Trustees in addition to Honaker include Vice President James Roth, Secretary Lynne Chadey, and Treasurer Bob Reese, along with Dick Boettcher, Chris Plant and George Eckman.
Among the students being recognized for completing their degrees and certificates at Western Wyoming Community College, are 9 international students from 6 countries and 80 students graduating through WWCC’s Outreach Programs. Western has outreach centers in Baggs, Big Piney, Bridger Valley, Cokeville, Elk Mountain, Evanston, Farson, Kemmerer, Pinedale, Rawlins, Saratoga, Star Valley and Wamsutter.
There will be a reception for all graduates and their families in the WWCC Atrium following the ceremony.
