Western Wyoming Community College recently hosted the Southwest District Science Fair. 167 Middle, Junior and Senior High School students from five communities participated in the annual event.
Isie McLoughlin, from Pinedale Middle School earned the top honor with her project titled, “Heads or Tails…How Does the Snow Flow?” McLoughlin’s project was part of the Junior Physics and Astronomy division and although it is not unheard of having a participant in the Junior division win the overall award, it is rare.
WWCC Instructor of Physics and Math and Science Fair judge Steven Schutten, had this to say about McLoughlin’s project, “Her attention to detail throughout the scientific process was impressive and her project was directed by a passion for science. I look forward to seeing what she comes up for next year.”
The overall winner is awarded a two year full tuition scholarship to Western Wyoming Community College and everyone who places within the top three of their category qualifies for the State Science Fair hosted by the University of Wyoming.
