Representatives from Questar Corporation presented Western Wyoming
Community College with a $20,000 donation. The gift will provide
scholarships in the Oil and Gas Production Technology, Instrumentation
and Electronics Technology, and Natural Gas Compression Technology
Programs. After the scholarships are awarded, any remaining donation
balance will be used to fund building or special project needs of the
three programs.
Terry Nimmo and Steve Christiansen presented the
donation to WWCC President, Dr. Tex Boggs Wednesday at the College’s
Community Career Fair. The gift will be renewable indefinitely,
providing improvements and scholarships well into the future.
“We were looking to find the best way to give to
the college and get something back too,” Christiansen said. Questar
plans to hire several interns each year through the scholarship program.
So far, Questar has already hired four Western
graduates. “We’re thrilled with the graduates we’ve hired,” Christiansen
added. “They’re well-trained and ready to go to work. It’s a win-win
situation for us and Western.”
