Upon licensure, the AD nurse practices in settings where policies and procedures are specified and guidance is available. The Associate Degree Nursing Program offers a Practical Nurse Spin-Off option at the end of the first year of the nursing courses. Students who have successfully completed the first year have the option to take the one-credit course, Practical Nursing Roles, preparing them for the role of the practical nurse. At the completion of this course, students are eligible to sit for Practical Nursing licensure examination. At the completion of the Practical Nursing Roles course, students have the option to exit as a practical nurse or continue in the program.
