Western
Wyoming Community College has identified five major
goals
for student success in order to assist students in developing abilities
that will help prepare them to succeed in the world today and meet the
challenges of the future. These goals are addressed in courses across
the curriculum at
WWCC, and methods of instruction and assessment are
varied.
Western Wyoming Community College is
committed to the Assessment of Student Learning for the following reasons:
Self Assessment
Assessment of Student Learning provides unique
opportunities for self-assessment and continuous improvement.
Reflection on outcomes and assessment activities helps students to
discover more about their abilities and knowledge gained.
Evaluating experiences can serve to help the student grow stronger as
a learner and as a person. The reflection process may also
assist in setting future goals.
Improve Learning
The College utilizes a number of
assessment tools to measure how effectively we are meeting
the needs of students and accomplishing the learning goals delineated
as the Goals for Student Success. These assessments provide the
College with information to continuously improve student learning.
Accreditation Requirement
Assessment of Student Learning as
a systematic process on the College curriculum level is required to
maintain accreditation by The Higher Learning Commission of the North
Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
WWCC has developed multiple
methods of assessment in order to improve student learning across the
curriculum.
