Curriculum-level Assessment
Curriculum-level assessment is conducted by Western’s Assessment Team, which is comprised of one faculty member from each division, as well as administrative staff from Student Learning and Student Success Services. Assessment at the curriculum level is based on the five Goals for Student Success, and includes analysis from:
Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE) and Community College Faculty Student Survey of Student Engagement (CCFSSE)
Collegiate Assessment of Academic Performance (CAAP), and Measure of Academic Proficiency and Progress (MAPP)
Computer Competency Assessment (SAM Challenge and SimNet)
Graduate Exit Survey, UW Transfer survey, and WWCC Graduate Follow-up Survey
In addition, the Assessment Team conducts its own blind-scoring evaluations of student performance samples, the results of which are also based on the Goals for Student Success. These samples are gathered from Assessment Portfolio/Capstone courses, which are conducted through the Taskstream program; and Assessment Day, which is conducted at the end of each semester. Western students can fulfill their Graduation Requirement through either of these two methods. Included in this results analysis are:
Research papers
Oral presentations
Self-reflection papers
Group problem-solving activity
