The men's Mustangs soccer team enters the 2014 fall season with plenty of hope and ambition to rise to the top of Region IX again.

The 2014 Mustangs will have 7 players complete their sophomore season this fall. Bryant Cox from Craig, CO, will again play for WWCC as a defender, Devian Kurete from Evanston, WY, will be a returning forward to bolster the highly touted Mustang attack. Chandler Young from Layton, UT, will help the Mustangs in the midfield or the defense. Andrew Newbold from West Jordan UT returns to Western after a 2 year mission to Chile, Andrew played for the 2010 Mustangs. Newbold is a forward and will look to enter into the top 10 on many WWCC Career record lists. Brock Mosier, a midfielder from Laramie, WY, will try to add onto his impressive playing resume as a Mustang. Another member of the 2010 squad rejoining the Mustangs, from Riverton, UT, and returning from a 2-year mission in Singapore is Carson Broadhead. Carson plays best as a defender and should shine for Western. Our last sophomore on the 2014 team is Piero Levano from Lima Peru. Piero moved to Rock Springs WY in high school and he is a midfielder. Piero has shown good growth and maturity.

The new recruits for the Mustangs are players we expect to help out the program from the get go. Up top as forwards we have added; Zac Roper from Preston High in Preston ID; Alan Wendlandt from Rock Springs High in Rock Springs WY; and Riley Gibson from Lehi High in Lehi, UT. There is a ton of talent in these young men and we are looking from some individual and team records to fall again this season. The midfield has added Gunner Burrell from Fremont High in Roy, UT; Landon Jacobsen from Lehi High in Lehi, UT; Levi Tams from Fremont High in Hooper, UT; Jesse Cardenas from Gooding High in Gooding, UT; Spencer Seitz from Uintah High in Vernal UT; Eric Ramirez from Rock Springs High in Rock Springs WY; Edwin Muniz from Rock Springs High in Rock Springs WY and Carsen Tinker from Bountiful High in Bountiful, UT. We are very pleased with this recruiting class in the midfield and expect them to help our returners to control the possession and the flow of the match. The Mustang's back line has been bolstered by the additions of Taylor Flitton from Davis High in Kaysville, UT; Colton Cottrell from Davis High in Kaysville, UT; Adam Stocks from Preston High in Preston, ID; Austin Moffitt from Green River High in Green River, WY; and Devin Moore from Roy High in West Haven, UT. These players have proven they were awesome defenders in high school and we know that their skills can be translated to the collegiate level. At goalkeeper the Mustangs added three recruits; Kyle Mivshek from Pinedale High in Pinedale, WY; Carlos Gonzalez from Gooding High in Gooding ID and Austin Pinter from Evanston High in Evanston, WY. All three players are very reliable keepers and have the skills to be very successful here as Mustangs.

Our returning players and the newcomers to the program have goals and expectations of being a welcome addition to our community and campus, to achieve high marks in the classroom and to compete to win another region title and help us to advance to the 2014 NJCAA tournament in Prescott, AZ.
