Jeff AtkinsonSoccer Coach
Jeff Atkinson

Jeff Atkinson played club soccer while at Evanston High School and the University of Wyoming. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Wyoming in Spanish Education. Jeff is a Spanish teacher at Rock Springs High School. Jeff was named the 2012 Region IX NJCAA Coach of the Year and holds several NSCAA certificates including goal keeper certificates.

Atkinson also coached the Rock Springs High School boy's soccer team for 9 seasons. While with the Tigers he helped lead them to 5 state tournaments. The Atkinson lead RSHS teams earned a 3rd, 4th and 6th place finish at the Wyoming State Cup during his tenure. He and his wife, Jennifer, have three sons—Timothy, Landon and Seth and a daughter - Sydney.

Coach Atkinson starts his tenth season as the head coach of Western's men's soccer team. He has compiled a 77-84-9 (.479) overall record while at Western. During the 2005 season he led Western to a Wyoming State Club Championship. Under his direction, Western played their first intercollegiate season in 2006, finishing third in Region IX. The 2007 season saw the Mustangs make some great strides and they were able to finish second in the Region. WWCC played in the Region IX championship game in 2008. The 2009 season the Mustangs again finished Region IX in second place. The 2010 season was a difficult season as the Mustangs finished 5th in the Region. One bright spot in 2011 is that Coach Atkinson picked up his 100th career coaching victory. The Mustangs in 2011, got back to a winning record and finished 4th in the Region. The 2012 season was one for the record books as the Mustangs won their first Region IX Championship, hosted and finished second in the NJCAA West District Tournament and competed at the NJCAA National Tournament in Albany GA. The Mustangs won one match and lost one match at the 2012 National Tournament for an 8th place finish in the Nation. The 2013 season started quickly but slowed down for a 6th place Region IX finish. This season should be another chance for the Mustangs to prove that they are one of the top NJCAA schools for men’s soccer. This year’s squad should be strong defensively and explosive offensively.
