Through subtle instruction and guidance, participants will be introduced to various forms of meditation practice. We will unveil some of the mystery behind meditation and discuss the science behind it. We will also learn about the proven benefits of meditation as we practice different techniques to enable participants to achieve a meditative state. We will explore passive meditations including visualization, guided, concentrated and vispassana. Participants will have the opportunity to practice active meditations such as mindful walking, chanting/mantra and eating, to gain a better understanding of alert presence in all moments. This class, like meditation itself, is not religious in any way; however, participants may be introduced or reacquainted with eastern philosophies within the context of understanding the underlying concepts of meditation. Participants should dress in comfortable non-confining clothing and should bring a blanket, mat or pillow. Depending on the temperature, they may wish to bring a robe or hoodie.
