|
Instructor’s Name and E-mail: |
Lisa McClure
lmcclure@wwcc.wy.edu |
|
Course Prerequisites: |
None. However, because this is an
online computer course, it would be helpful to
have already taken another online class or computer
class. |
|
Will there be proctored exams? |
|
No |
|
Are there live scheduled meetings: |
|
No |
|
If so, list the

NA |
|
List special software requirements: |
You must
have Microsoft Word 2007. Earlier versions will
not be acceptable.
The
Microsoft Office Professional 2007 software suite
includes Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Word.
There is a short integration assignment that shows
interaction with Excel. That assignment could be done
at another computer if the entire software suite is not
available to the student.
Earlier versions of Word will
not work with this course or the textbook. You can
check your version of Word by opening the Word program
and clicking on the Help menu and then on “About
Microsoft Word…” The version will be listed in the
dialog box.
A
180-Day subscription to Office 2007 Professional is
listed as an “Optional” textbook for this class. It is
available at the WWCC bookstore at a great price.
You will also do some web
activities that require the web browser Internet
Explorer 5.0 or higher.

List minimum computer skills: |
·
Send/Receive email
·
Send/Open attached files
·
It’s helpful to have someone locally
who can help you with technical problems like hardware
and software installation.
|
|
List minimum keyboarding skills: |
Keyboarding Competency. You
must have basic keyboarding skills in order to take this
class. You need to know where the keys are and be able
to type with both hands. Otherwise, you will spend a
great deal of time concentrating on keying information
and not on learning these applications. |
|
|
|
Will any materials be
distributed to the students outside of the online
environment? |
|
No |
|
If so, how? |
|
|
List any other information students need to know about
this class: |
|
This is a “Flexible” class. This
means that you can work on the class when it’s
convenient for you. However, there will be deadlines
for assignments and tests. Your instructor will provide
you with a schedule of assignments, tests, and due dates
to help you plan your time accordingly. Because this is
an online course, you MUST be self-motivated and able to
work on your own to meet deadlines. Good reading
comprehension and problem solving skills will help you
be successful in this course. |
