With any position of employment, there are some things you just “need to know.” Working at Western is no different. You might first take a look at our Frequently Asked Questions, which includes a wide variety of concerns from full- and part-time faculty members.

It’s essential that you become familiar with FERPA guidelines, as they impact the way in which you do business in the classroom. Questions about FERPA or other student privacy issues should be referred to Registration and Records.

At WWCC, instructors and students each have been assigned a Mustang Cruiser account. Mustang Cruiser is our primary method of communication with adjunct instructors. For students enrolled in face-to-face courses, Mustang Cruiser provides a way for them to contact their instructors and to receive grade updates about their progress in courses. Mustang Cruiser is a course management and communication tool that provides an online gradebook and discussion board for each WWCC course. This tool also gives you document storage, the ability to create assignments, an e-mail program, and more. Because Mustang Cruiser has limited storage space, it’s important that you empty folders and delete unwanted e-mails regularly. Please click here to view a pre-recorded training for the many uses of Mustang Cruiser. When prompted, enter your name and e-mail address as a guest.

Knowledge of Copyright Law will also influence the way you design your curriculum. Questions regarding copyright law and the Fair Use Act should be referred to Nancy Johnson, Director of Distance Education. Please ensure that you and your students are aware of Western’s policy regarding academic dishonesty; knowledge of the policy and consequences can be a prevention tool for this type of behavior

Read up on your Responsibilities for Dealing with Sexual Harassment. If you have concerns or questions regarding harassment or other issues, please contact our Human Resources Office.

Our WWCC Safety Brochure will point you in the right direction when dealing with medical emergencies, natural disasters, or violent behavior. Sometimes concerns about our students need to be shared with others who can help; in this case, complete the Reporting Form. Concerns about these or other issues related to student success should be directed to Jackie Freeze, Vice President for Student Success Services.
