Education Majors


Wyoming Quality Counts Grants & Scholarships

Engineering Majors


Central Wyoming Section of Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration (SME)
Up to four $1,500 scholarships will be available for the 2008-09 school year.
    * Applicants must be a legal resident of the State of Wyoming.
    *Applicants must have a class standing of Sophmore, Junior  or Senior in college.
    *Applicants must be studying in the fields of mining, engineering, geology, environmental studies or other mineral  extractive disciplines.
   *Applicant must have a GPA of 2.75 or higher.
The Educational Data section must be completed in order for the application to be considered.
A 250 word written essay on the topic, "The Importance of Mineral Extraction to the State of Wyoming", must accompany the application.   

* Applications can be picked up in the Financial Aid office. 

*Completed applications along with the essay may be returned to the financial aid office by no later than 8:00am on December 1, 2008.

Deadline is: December 1, 2008                                                                                                 


Southwestern Wyoming Instrumentation & Control Technology Scholarship:
 
Two $250 awards are made each semester.  However this number and amount can change at any time on a vote by the Scholarship Committee, and based upon the revenue received from the permanent scholarship fund and evaluation of the applications received by the committee.  This scholarship is given to help provide financial assistance to student studying in the field of Industrial Instrumentation and Control Technology/Engineering.     

Requirements:  Applicants must be attending Western Wyoming Community College as a part time or full time student and must be majoring in Industrial Instrumentation and Control Technology, or a closely related area.  Applicants must have a minimum of a 2.5 GPA for all post-secondary course work.  This does not apply to entering first-semester freshman students.    

Awarding Process:   Applicants will be ranked according to their stated financial need, and by their stated intention to follow a career in the field of Industrial Instrumentation and Control Technology/Engineering.  Members of the Scholarship Committee and their dependents are not eligible for consideration. 

Application Deadline: November 1, 2008 for the Fall 08 semester award.  Applications received after 5:00pm on November 1, 2008 will not be considered for review by the Scholarship Committee.   Applications can be picked up in the Financial Aid Office at WWCC.  When you have completed the application, please return it to the WWCC Financial Aid office.

*Education Matters $5K Scholarship:                                                                                                      
    One $5,000 scholarship will be awarded to the student who best responds (in 250 words or less) to the following online topic: "What would you say to someone who thinks education doesn't matter, or that college is a waste of time and money?" 

To be eligible to apply, students must be residents of the United States, be 13 years of age or older, and must have completed a scholarship search profile online at www.scholarshipexperts.com

Wyoming Bowlers' Memorial Scholarship:
One scholarship will be awarded each year in the amount of $150-$500 depending on the funds available.

Who can apply: Any person who is 19 years of age or older and is bowling in a sanctioned league at a Wyoming bowling center.

Application requirements: 
**Must submit a letter showing financial need and also give a history of your bowling participation while in Wyoming.
**A letter of recommendation from the bowling proprietor or association officer.
**A letter of recommendation from a personal friend or relative.
**A letter of recommendation from a business associate.

Application deadline: May 1, 2009  Applications may be picked up in the WWCC Financial Aid office.

Awards of up to  $10,000 given to young filmmakers and writers who are exploring the principles of a free society.

Boston University's 16th Annual Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship

This scholarship is for members of Phi Theta Kappa who are seeking to transfer to Boston University only. Basic requirements: Phi Theta Kappa member, Must enter Boston University as a junior, with a minimum of 60 transferable credits; must be nominated by your Phi Theta Kappa advisor (Jackie Freeze). Datatel Scholars Foundation

Angelfire Scholarship

This scholarship honors soldiers who have served in the US military during periods of combat. The Angelfire scholarship is presented to outstanding students currently attending eligible institutions (WWCC is an eligible institution), who also served in the Asian theater (Vietnam, Laos, or Cambodia) between 1964 and 1975. Spouses and children of Vietnam veterans, and refugees of Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam are also eligible. In addition, scholarships are given to soldiers who have served in Operation Desert Storm, Operation Enduring Freedom, and/or Operation Iraqi Freedom.
