Gifts for the Future

Louise Wesswick enhances education, culture

Louise Wesswick with Album

Much of what is educational and cultural on campus is sponsored or partially sponsored by the Arlene and Louise Wesswick Lecture Series in the Humanities and Education. Louise Wesswick established the lecture series on campus in memory of her late sister Arlene who was a WWCC English instructor.

Recently Louise went well beyond her traditional annual contributions to that series and the English Department’s spring Friday Nite Live Visiting Author Series most often connected with the Wesswick name. She made a $4,000 contribution to Western’s ongoing “Gifts for the Future” campaign—an amount that will be matched by the Wyoming State Legislature, thanks to special legislation passed in 2004, for a total gift of $8,000 to the Western Wyoming College Endowment Fund.

Louise said. “My involvement at WWCC has given me new life. This is the place where I saw the most professionalism and the most potential. I can make a better contribution here and I will continue these programs as long as I can.”
