Addressing outgoing mail & Forwarding mail information
Mail needs to include your first and last name so that we can find you. If mail is sent to you under a nickname such as: Love Muffin, The Hunk in mailbox number xxx, my future spouse, etc. and no other information is included your mail will be returned to the sender.
To ensure that your mail gets to you in a timely manner please make sure that anyone who sends mail to you addresses it as follows:
Mail and small packages: |
Large packages, FedEx and UPS items: |
* This is your mailbox section and box number—Example F414 This number is on your housing assignment paperwork. Please do not use your dorm and room number we do not have a reference to that number in the mailroom. Also please note that everyone in your room shares the same mailbox. |
|
If you are married, receive mail for children, or other family members please let us know what their names are so that we can add a cross reference to our database to ensure that their mail is directed to you instead of being returned to the sender.
Mailroom Hours
Mail is delivered twice a day
8-10 a.m. items addressed to the P.O. Box
and
3-3:30 p.m. items addressed to the street address
and anything that was processed after picking up the
morning mail at the post office at 7:30 a.m.
Problems with mailbox combinations
If you are having a problem with your mailbox combination please stop by the mailroom when we are open and we will assist you with it. Note that mailbox combinations work the opposite of what you are used to (Left to the first number, Right pass second number the first time then stop on it the second time around, Left to your last number then Pull on the knob as you turn to the Right a few numbers—sometimes this is only 1-2 number other times it is up to 10 numbers).
Junk Mail
We are required to put all fliers that we receive into mailboxes and it would be greatly appreciated if you would toss the items that you do not want into the trash.
Packages delivered to WWCC
If you receive a package at WWCC the mailroom/shipping receiving staff will put a package notice slip into your mailbox and the package can be picked up in shipping during the hours listed on the notification.

Summer hours—May 20 to August 20

A photo id is required for anything that you pickup from mailroom/shipping personnel so that we can verify that we are giving packages to the right person. If you have a large package and need to borrow our cart you will be required to leave your id until the cart is returned.
If you are unable to make it to shipping during the posted times you can send a note and your id with a friend letting us know that it is okay for them to pick up your package. Your friend will need to bring their id too..
Shipping is located in room 1553 at the other end of the building. At the atrium (by your mailbox with the pendulum at your back) go down the hall to the two large round yellow pillars turn left then turn right at the next hallway. The entrance to shipping is next to the red phone that is hanging on the wall.
Package Notices from US Post Office
If you receive an orange colored slip in your mailbox indicating that you have a package or letter. This means that your package is at the US post office which is located on Foothill Drive (directions below) and it requires your signature for it to be released. If you would like the package delivered to WWCC with out delays please ask the sender of your packages NOT to mark the signature required box on Insured and Express mail items. Please make sure your name (not Housing, Admissions, Enrollment etc) is on all of your mail and packages if your name is not on your mail or packages there will be delays in getting it to you.
The US Post Office will only hold your packages for 15 days then it will be returned to the sender. Under special circumstances the WWCC mailroom/shipping personnel can pick this item up for you; however, you will need to arrange with us to do so, but, it will take a few days for it to be available for pick up at WWCC shipping/receiving department.
Outgoing packages being sent overseas
Due to security reasons the US Post Office requires that all packages which are addressed to foreign addresses (Japan, China, Zimbabwe, etc) that weigh more than 5 pounds be delivered to the US Post Office not the WWCC Mailroom and Shipping Department.
Directions to the US Post Office (2829 Commercial Way)
Go down College Dr to the light (by the banks and the plaza mall) turn right on Dewar Drive go straight thru 4 light. At the fourth light (by Kmart, Smiths, and White Mountain Mall) turn right onto Foothill Drive go to the next light the post office is the next drive way on your right after you go thru this light.
Trial E-mail package notification
In an attempt to notify students earlier in the day that they have a package the WWCC Mailroom/shipping Staff will be doing an experimental package notification project and if you would prefer to be notified that you have a package via e-mail please write the following on a piece of paper and drop it in the on-campus mail addressed to mailroom.
First and last name, mailbox section and number and your E-mail address.
If the information is not written legible and we can not read it then we will not add it to our database.
If an e-mail notification is sent and a package is not picked up within a week or so then a paper notification slip will be placed into your mailbox.

Forwarding Mail Information
We get the forwarding address off of DEC which comes from the address given to the Housing office as being your permanent address. So please make sure that they have your correct forwarding address when you check out of housing.
If you are moving off campus and are not returning to WWCC housing the next
semester please make sure that you notify everyone (friends, family, bills, etc) who send mail to you that you have moved and what your new address is. This will ensure that your mail gets to you in a timely fashion instead of being delayed by two to three weeks while it goes through the forwarding mail process.
The WWCC mailroom only forward mail for 6 months then it is returned to the sender. So please make sure that you notify everyone who sends mail to you what your new address is.
We have change of address forms in the mailroom and shipping, which can be used to notify family, friends, and etc. of your new address. Please do not send these forms back to us (WWCC) unless you have not changed your address with housing or enrollment when you moved out. WWCC mailroom not the US Post Office
forwards all student mail because everyone’s mail is addressed to WWCC addresses.
Please leave old mail in the mailbox for a couple weeks after the end of each semester. It takes a little time for us to get all of the updated addresses entered into our system so that we know whose mail to pulled and whose mail to leave in the box.
Enjoy your time at WWCC
Thank you,
