WWCC Parents
Welcome from Jackie Freeze
We are thrilled that you and your student have chosen Western Wyoming Community College as the place to continue higher education. We take that trust and commitment seriously and want to do all that we can to assure each student has a positive experience. You can help. Higher education is certainly not mandated and students must find their own reason for being here. Help them to determine what they want and how to get there. Those who “own” their education are much more likely to continue and graduate.
Western is all about student success. We are not in the business of weeding out the weakest of incoming students. We want everyone to find a home and to succeed in their educational goals. To this end, our classes are small (few have more than 20 students), all are taught by fully qualified and dedicated faculty (most with masters and doctorate degrees), and we offer a range of free services to help the student succeed. We place a focus on active hands-on learning providing students with opportunities to find out early in their programs in they really want to pursue a particular major. Students get internship opportunities to work in their field. They get exercises in classes that force them to work in teams and pursue real-world problems. They get to try what they learn!
The classroom is only a small part of a student’s education, however. Living on-campus provides a strong living/learning experience. Getting involved in activities such as athletics, theatre, or art allow for involvement in something they love and helps students develop skills they will use throughout their lifetime. Getting involved in clubs and other leadership roles helps them to develop life skills and interact with people from all types of backgrounds, majors, and value systems.
We are proud of this institution. I am a graduate of Western and have dedicated over 35 years to the students we serve. We want to partner with you and your student to continue the tradition. Please join us in making it a great experience.
