Welcome from Jackie Freeze:

We are thrilled that you and your student have chosen Western Wyoming Community College as the place to continue higher education. We take that trust and commitment seriously and want to do all that we can to assure each student has a positive experience. You can help. Encourage them to determine what they want and how to get there. Those who "own" their education are much more likely to persist and graduate. More of tomorrow’s jobs require higher education, particularly those with the best salaries. We want your student to be marketable.

Our Sixteen-to-Succeed initiative encourages full-time students to complete 16 credit hours of college-level coursework or leverage the use of summer school to attain 32 the first year and graduate in the expected two years. This saves money, allows the student to show successful completion at this level, and positions them to move to the next level of higher education or into the job market.

Western is all about student success. We want everyone to find a home and to succeed in their educational goals. To this end, our classes are small (few have more than 20 students), all are taught by fully qualified and dedicated faculty (most with masters and doctorate degrees), and we offer a range of free services to help the student succeed. We place a focus on active learning, providing students with opportunities to find out early in their programs if they really enjoy the work. Students get internship opportunities to work in their field.

The classroom is only a small part of a student's education, however. Living on-campus provides a strong living/learning experience. Getting involved in activities such as athletics, theatre, or art allow for involvement in something they love and helps students develop skills they will use throughout their lifetime. Getting involved in clubs and other leadership roles helps them to develop life skills and interact with people from all types of backgrounds, majors, and value systems.

We are proud of this institution. I am a graduate of Western and have dedicated over 40 years to the students we serve. We want to partner with you and your student to continue the tradition. Please join us in making it a great experience.
