various job opportunities and further pursue a Bachelors Degree in the
field of Information Technology (IT). With an A.S. degree in Computer
Information Systems, students can further pursue completing a Bachelor's
Degree in IT or positions in Computer Engineering, Computer
Programming, Software Design and Development, Hardware Design and

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics,
Employment in computer and data processing services grew by more than
1.3 million jobs from
1990 to 2000. In 2000, there were about 2.1
million wage and salary jobs, and an additional 164,000 self-employed
workers, making the industry one of the largest in the economy. Since
the late 1980s, employment has grown most rapidly in the computer
programming services, information retrieval services, and prepackaged
software segments of the industry. From 1990 to 2000, about 368,000
jobs were created in programming services, 196,000 in information
retrieval services, and another 187,000 in prepackaged software.
