Hello! My name is Dorothy Harton. Although my name does not reveal it, I was born and grew up in Norway. In search for adventure, I came to the States to study after graduating from a Norwegian college-preparatory high school. I chose to study at Tusculum College, located at the base of the Appalachian Mountains in Tennessee. After receiving my Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education from Tusculum, I continued my studies at University of Wisconsin -Milwaukee where I received my Master's Degree in Exercise Physiology.

Many years and adventures later, I started teaching at Western in 1996 and have enjoyed every minute of it. I teach in the Exercise Science program and coordinate and teach in the Outdoor Leadership program. The Norwegian’s passion for the wilderness and outdoor pursuits is rooted in me, and fortunately I can happily find many outlets here in the Rocky Mountains. I often get out on trips in the wilderness with my students, but I also do many of these activities together with my wonderful husband, my 4 children and our golden retriever, Gomboc. (There is nothing quite like sharing your tent with a wet, tired dog!)

Please feel free to contact me at (307) 382-1711 or dharton@wwcc.wy.edu.

Hi my name is John Liccardo! I grew up just outside Chicago in Evanston, IL. I received my undergraduate degree in Anthropology and Exercise Physiology from the University of Utah in 1995 and liked it so much I stayed to get my Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology in 1998. I have worked as a personal trainer and directed a health promotion center. More recently, I taught Health Education and Exercise Science for 6 years at Bakersfield College before arriving in Wyoming in 2007.  I love Exercise Science, teaching and promoting an active lifestyle and look forward to teaching here at Western.

I was a track and cross country athlete in college and am still an avid (and a bit competitive!) runner. I do a great deal of racing and trail running. I love any outdoor adventure that involves running, hiking, biking or (now) skiing. I also have traveled extensively in places such as sub-Saharan Africa, Peru, and Europe as well as much of the USA.

I am looking forward to many adventures in the mountains, small towns, back roads and classrooms here in Wyoming. Please come by and say hi.
