Why Western?

Western Wyoming Community College offers a three year (seven semester) program leading to an Associate Degree in Nursing with a practical nursing spin-off option. Successful completion of the program allows the graduate to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nursing (NCLEX-RN)

100% of nursing graduates from Western have been successful in obtaining employment in nursing since 1996.

Pass rate on State Board Exams (NCLEX-RN) for 2003 was 100% - well above state and national averages.

The WWCC Nursing Program utilizes Problem Based Learning (PBL). PBL utilizes realistic cases in a small group setting. Students pursue learning issues and share them with their classmates as they resolve the case. Class sessions are lively and intense. No more boring lectures. The students’ knowledge base expands rapidly as they learn how to learn. Current students say they can’t imagine learning nursing any other way!

The 1:8 ratio in Problem Based Learning and clinical experiences allows for a quality, intensive learning experience.

Local facilities offer varied clinical experiences.

Learning lab and clinical experiences offer great "hands on" practice.
